Home

This is the website for the Phi Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Epilon at the University of British Columbia.
If you're a visitor wanting to learn more about our fraternity, we invite you to check out our RUSH section. Rush month is a time where the fraternity hosts several parties, sporting events and other great activities to let you see what we're all about. Feel free to come out and see what ΔKE has to offer. Our house is located in the UBC fraternity village at 8 - 2880 Wesbrook Mall.

Philanthropy

One of the characteristic traits of a fellow Deke is “the jolly good fellow” and as such the Fraternity of Delta Kappa Epsilon has been founded on principles of promoting useful citizenship and giving back to society. Our chapter strives to distinguish itself within and outside the UBC community through various public service projects. Such efforts not only help to provide valuable charities with financial contributions but internally strengthen the brotherhood and promote awareness.

The Phi Alpha chapter has been involved with a variety of fundraisers, volunteer opportunities and charitable donations as well as supporting Greek community events in the past which have included:

DKE events
  • DKE Charity Golf tournament - The inaugural DKE Charity Golf Tournament took place on August 26, 2010 at Langara Golf Course. This event was a great success raising several hundred dollars for the JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Fund) and bringing together over 30 active and alumni Deke brothers.
  • Blood Drives – Regular blood drives through Canadian Blood Services (in co-operation with UBC's Kappa Kappa Gammas).
  • Poppy Drives – Remembrance Day poppy distribution and fund raising with the Royal Canadian Legion.
  • JDRF Walk For the Cure – Setting up, collecting pledges and course marshalling for the JDRF's annual Walk For the Cure event. Alpha Phi's Take Heart Calendar and Dating Game.
  • Collection and donation of old computers and electronics for the Electronics Recycling Agency.
  • Sponsor a Child - DKE supported Terrance a young child from Africa, helping him with daily needs such as food and drinking water, medical supplies and school supplies.

Greek Events

  • Kappa Kappa Gamma's Rent-a-Kappa.
  • Gamma Phi Beta's Mr. Greek.
  • Order of Omega's Songfest.
  • End of semester clothing and food drives.

Active members Amir Tehrani and Colby Ellis currently hold this year’s Philanthropy Chair positions. The beginning of this year’s semester has already seen Philanthropy activity. Dekes participated in the Shinerama fundraiser, Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser to support research to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
The DKE Charity golf tournament was brought back this year to help raise funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
A blood drive is now in the works for an upcoming event, check back here for updates.
